On Wednesday, May 22, the Illinois Gun Violence Prevention Coalition is hosting a lobbying day in Springfield to urge legislators to support The Fix the FOID Act (HB96). The tragic shooting at Henry Pratt Company in Aurora on February 15, 2019 brought to light dangerous gaps in the state law that HB 96 aims to fix. The legislation would strengthen the FOID system, and help ensure that people with violent criminal histories who are prohibited from gun possession are not able to easily evade the law and arm themselves.
All are invited to go to Springfield on May 22 from 9:00am-1:00pm to meet with legislators in support of this important piece of legislation.
